The Kite Runner

"Unforgettable..extraordinary. It is so powerful that for a long time after, everything I read seemed bland"...This was what was written on the cover of the Kite Runner...

And no kidding...

The "Kite Runner" is that and so much more...In my case, I dont feel like picking any other book...I know that for a long long time no other book will even come close to making any impact on me..

The book is such that me giving a review would be just too cliched..I cant say .."So the book is based on so and so...".

So lets here it from the author:

The New York Times review:

Im so glad that I had once glanced at the book review section of the Sunday times.. Otherwise I would never have known about the book...I didnt read the review but I did reckon that it was about a book called the "Kite Runner" .Thus I was carrying the faint impression that the book wasnt your average fiction..otherwise the Times wouldnt spent a half page on it .. and that the book uses the background of strife in Afghanistan as canvas ..

I saw the book in a book store in JFK airport..After coverting the USD price in INR..my faith left me :) and dropped the idea of buying the book

Then, I found the book in the Crossword sale in our office some three months back..picked it up instantly.. I didnt even read the book then..It was just lying on my bedside table..In between I read so many other books..

Then on Friday night...having no other book to read..I picked it up..and I had finished it before noon on Saturday...

I am so so glad I have found a new novelist to become a fan off...thanks to them, I dont have to turn to non - fiction..

All that I need to learn about life..I can learn from these works of fiction.. I really dont need any self-help or Management books or books on Philisophy..

I want to be as loyal to my friends as Hassan is to Amir, as honourable as Amir's father and to find courage, albeit late, and embrace it... the way Amir does.

" To fight for the right without question or pause..."
...To march into hell for a heavenly cause.."
